Thursday, March 20, 2025: Day 1 of the Fair

 

4:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Student arrival and check-in at the Student Registration booth

 

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Project set-up and safety check

 

5:00 pm – 5:45 pm: Dinner
Pizza will be sold in the hallway leading to cafeteria.
Participants may also bring their own dinner.
Please do not eat in the gymnasium.
REMEMBER you must be at your project by 6:00 pm!
 

5:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Judge check-in at the library, coffee and light snacks

 

5:30 pm – 6:00 pm: Judge Briefing

 

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Category and Special Awards Judging
All students must be at their project display. Only judges are permitted in the project areas during this time.

 

7:15 pm – 7:30 pm: Student rest break

 

9:00 pm: Student pickup

 

 

Friday, March 21, 2025: Day 2 of the Fair

 

8:00 am – 8:45 am: Student arrival

 

9:00 am – 10:00 am: Gr. 7-12 Best of Fair and Special Awards Judging

 

9:45 am – 10:30 am: Visiting Students Workshop

 

10:00 am – 11:00 am: Best-of-Fair & Special Awards Judging

 

10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Public viewing of projects

 

11:30 am – 12:15 pm: Lunch break - the cafeteria offers a full selection of à la carte menu items or bring your own lunch

 

12:15 pm – 12:30 pm: Students takedown projects and store under table

 

12:30 pm – 12:45 pm: Students enter auditorium

 

12:45 pm – 1:30 pm: Keynote Speaker: “Machine Learning” by Jonathan Li, Cohere AI (Cohere.com)

 

Jonathan is an AI research engineer at Cohere, where he works to improve large language models (LLMs) that power millions of enterprise-grade chatbots. He first presented a science fair project on AI in grade seven and later competed in the Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Science Fair three additional times—earning a gold medal at the Canada-wide Science Fair in grade twelve. In high school, he published several peer-reviewed papers on machine learning, and more recently, he launched a hobby web design firm and clothing brand. In his keynote presentation, Jonathan will recount the experiences that have shaped his journey and share his insights on modern machine learning.
