Keynote Speaker

Rob Millard is an educator dedicated to helping others make connections to the world around them.

He firmly believes that the World is Our Classroom, and strives to help others see that. We just need to take the time and look, a little guidance to help look is what he is here for.

His passion for teaching about Math, the Environment, the Earth, Space and the rest of the Sciences is infectious. Since starting his teaching career in 2001 he has been a regular Science, Math, Health Care and Geography teacher in Carleton Place, ON, and the lead teacher of the Grade 12 Earth and Space Science summer school credit course at the Canadian Ecology Centre each summer.

He has written and delivered several online courses on Earth and Space Science, presented workshops to Faculty of Education teacher candidates, school board professional development sessions, educator workshops at conferences, conventions and has also delivered specialized teaching workshops. He has been a regular presenter and educator liaison on the sponsored Educator Mining Tours hosted by the Canadian Ecology Centre each year.

He the founder of MEESS Education, and education support company focused on providing assistance to both formal and informal education efforts in the areas of Math, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Space Sciences and the general Sciences. Rob is a regular speaker and night sky guide at many events including the annual event, Stars and Songs, at the Canadian Ecology Centre in Samuel De Champlain Provincial Park each January, as well as with the ND Astronomy Club Star Parties in Eastern Ontario.

Rob routinely offers clinics, workshops and talks to many different audiences including educators helping them develop knowledge and skills to teach others about astronomy, geology, environmental sciences and mining, among many other topics. On clear nights, Rob can be found exploring the dark skies of Ontario photographing the heavens through one of his telescopes, or planning his next Astronomical adventure.
